Has your life been affected by art?
Artists Anonymous is a community of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope to solve their common problem and help others to continue making art in a motivated, healthy and sustainable way.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to continue making art.
Developing a career in the arts is one of the most difficult challenges to structure and describe. Due to the characteristics of this professional area, the art worker is divided between two worlds and ways of thinking. On the one hand, he/she develops working methods linked to a liberal, flexible, open-ended, free, innovative, creative profession; on the other hand, he/she must frame his work practice in a system with institutions, scholarships, job offers and the art market. In this way, the art worker is simultaneously a researcher, educator, creator, entrepreneur, programmer, independent worker and also working for others simultaneously.
In addition, the events that took place during 2020 and 2021 further weakened the cultural sector. However, in parallel, associations, discussion groups and new practices have emerged to respond to the difficulties encountered.
The meetings took place during the month of March 2021 (during portuguese lockdown) for a group of 11 artists.
