NOTES FROM THE MARKET

This work is a first approach to the place through drawing. It is the drawing that makes it known, that engraves in memory, that allows time to ask, to talk, to approach, but also to distance, contemplate, listen, imagine. Over the course of several days, several visits to the Mercado Primeiro de Maio, graphic records were made of their stalls, people, conversations. The result is a set of works that, like memories, overlap, mix, intertwine. They are documentations through drawing, a first approach to a place. In my creative process they correspond to the first step. Later other works with different levels of complexity could start from here. But, for the freshness and simplicity of the market and what is sold here, equally fresh designs are dedicated, in situ, without corrections, immediate, in a close relationship between the vision and the memory that is created.
